Hemi Te Nahu
Hemi Te Nahu is the Treaty Partner of the Firm and works at the firm's Rotorua office. He has had over ten years practice in the area of Waitangi Tribunal claims. He is a passionate advocate of whānau, hapū and iwi rights particularly where the Treaty is concerned.
He graduated with an LLB from Waikato Law School in April 1998 and was admitted to the Bar in May that year. Before becoming a partner in Waihere Hope, Hemi practiced in Law Firms in both Rotorua where he built up quite a general practice in Conveyancing, Employment, Māori Land and Family jurisdictions for 5 years.
He then worked in Wellington for nearly 2 years where he practiced solely in the Waitangi Tribunal jurisdiction. Upon his return from Wellington to Rotorua he practiced as a Barrister Sole until he had completed his exams to practice on his own account launching Te Nahu Law in December 2004.
Hemi has 4 sons being Maania, Haimona, Ruihana and Hikawai who have all been educated in Kura Kaupapa Māori, therefore the use of the reo is an everyday occurrence within his whānau. Consequently Hemi is a speaker of Māori with a particular interest in the difference between dialects from each rohe.
Hemi is of Te Arawa, Rongomaiwahine, Te Aitanga ā Hauiti and Whatu-i-āpiti descent. Outside of the office Hemi enjoys supporting his sons in their sporting activities from New Zealand and Regional representatives in Basketball and Waka Ama for Haimona and Ruihana to Hockey at both a Regional and National level for Maania, Haimona and Ruihana. Hemi also enjoys a good movie, the sounds of the Motown era and sitting down with a nice hot chocolate.

Darryl Andrews
Darryl is the Senior Solicitor at the Rotorua office. He graduated from the University of Waikato in April 2004 and was admitted at the Bar the following month.
One of the main reasons that Darryl studied law was because of his desire to learn about and be involved in Treaty work and it was at Waikato that his interest in Treaty Matters developed.
Darryl is married to Shivani, who is from India, and has three teenagers. Going to India every few years helps to satisfy a travelling bug and a near obsession with Auto Rickshaws.

Jude Murdoch
A BA (French) and LLB (Hons) 2010 graduate of Otago University, Jude joined the Rotorua office in March 2011, and was admitted to the bar in June 2011.
Jude is a public law enthusiast, and has enjoyed working with the engaging people and interesting issues common to the Treaty jurisdiction.
A Dunedinite at heart, Jude misses Carisbrook and the Southern Alps, but is warming to the people, outdoor pursuits, and hot springs of the North.
Outside work, Jude participates in a variety of ball sports and outdoor activities.

Paul Jackson
A BCom (Management and Economics)and LLB 2010 graduate of the University of Otago, Paul joined the Rotorua branch in October 2011 and was admitted to the bar in the same month.
While in Dunedin Paul spent time volunteering at the Otago Law Centre and enjoyed helping people with their legal needs.
Paul is passionate about law and is looking forward to the challenges ahead.
Outside of work Paul likes to play Rugby and Basketball.

Jane Walter
Jane is the Accounts Manager and Business Support person working out of the Rotorua Office. Her role includes providing all accounts management, book keeping and the financial overview for the company.
Jane also provides day to day business support to all the staff at Te Nahu Lovell & Co Ltd.
Having come from a business accounting background, Jane brings with her invaluable knowledge and skills which promotes the smooth running of the business.
In her spare time she enjoys reading, sewing, knitting and baking, taking long walks with her two dogs and trying to catch up with her three beautiful daughters.

Wellington Office

Loretta Lovell
Loretta is a partner at the firm's Wellington office. Of Ngāti Kahungunu and Whakatōhea descent Loretta was admitted in 1998 and provides advice to clients relating to commercial and public law matters.
Loretta attended Waikato University and after graduating worked initially for barrister Russell Fairbrother before entering the public service (Ministry of Social Policy and Te Puni Kōkiri). In 2001 Loretta joined Russell McVeagh and remained there ultimately as a consultant until February 2008. Loretta joined Waihere Hope as a consultant and became a partner in October 2008.
Loretta is married to Scott and they have one son, numerous dogs and a cat all generally referred to as the Lovell Clan. Loretta enjoys time with her family, cooking and reading a good book when she can.

Scott Lovell
Scott is the General Manager and is based at the firms Wellington office.
His role involves the management, development and overview of all administration and business matters for the firm.
Scott is originally from the Hawke's Bay and moved to Wellington in 1999 where he worked as a Policeman performing his duties predominantly in the Hutt Valley. He is married to Loretta who is the Wellington office partner and together they have a teenage son.
His interests include music, sport and general fitness training. He is also an active committee member of the Wellington bulldog club as well as owning French and British bulldogs.

Izzy Ford
Izzy is Business Support and provides administration and travel co ordination services to the staff in Rotorua and Wellington offices. She is married to Glynn and has two boys, Jayden (6) and Taylah (1). In her spare time she like's to play a little bit of golf, walk, read and listen to music. She love's spending time with her family.
She also enjoys enjoy watching rugby, golf and cricket and you can usually find her on the sideline watching Jayden play league or cricket, while chasing Taylah around the place.
Izzy has worked as a Legal Secretary/PA for over 10 years and 3 years as an IT Trainer Analyst. She is thoroughly enjoying the new challenges that her new role has to offer.
